Alex Gunn MFA (DJCAD)

Founder & Director

Alex is Founder Director at Edinburgh design school and Edinburgh Ceramics Workshop.  Alex is a design educator with 30 years experience teaching and managing in Art and Design education. Alex is a specialist in curriculum design and management. Alex co founded the Blueroom design collective where he exhibits his work.

Allison Weightman

Tutor

Allison Weightman has been a professional Ceramic Artist and tutor for over 30 years. She creates hand-built vessels and forms that relate to her love of the natural environment. The rich depths to her glazes are achieved through her development of multi-layering and multi-firing the work she produces. Her work can be found in public collections in Scotland and private collections across the World.

Tutor

Mella Shaw uses clay to make thought-provoking objects and site-specific installations centred around reoccurring themes of balance, tipping-points, fragility and loss.

Ian Henderson is a potter and educator living in South Queensferry Scotland. Ian is an experienced teacher and practitioner with a wealth of knowledge which he delights in passing on to his students.

Glen Clydesdale

Tutor

Glen Clydesdale is a Ceramics tutor and sculptor based in Edinburgh. Glen graduated from the Royal College of Art in ceramics in 2015 and is a specialist on slip casting and mould making.

Frances Priest

Tutor

Frances Priest creates intricate and colourful ceramic objects and installations celebrating cultural histories of ornament and pattern. Her work features in private collections across the globe and is represented in the collections of The Victoria & Albert Museum, The National Museum of Scotland and The Fitzwilliam Museum. Frances is a QEST Scholar and member of the Royal Society of Sculptors.

Sue Barclay

Tutor

Sue Barclay is a ceramics educator based in the Scottish Borders. Sue is interested in all aspects of pottery design and production but with a special emphasis on surface decoration and pattern making. Sue uses slips and transfers to explore mark making.

Lead Technician & Tutor

Hannah is our lead technician at Edinburgh Design school and Edinburgh ceramics workshop. Hannah is passionate about all things clay and keeps us all on track. Hannah teaches with us too across Foundation classes.

Technician & Tutor

Lauren is a passionate potter and technician. Lauren is an active member of our Edinburgh ceramics workshops and teaches on our Introduction to pottery courses at weekends.
